  • This chapter aims to discuss the development of spatial vision in primates and explore the possible underlying neural limitations on visual performance in infants. The basic measure of spatial vision for the purposes of this chapter is the spatial contrast sensitivity function. The development of contrast sensitivity is described, both in the central and peripheral visual field, in nonhuman primates, and parallels are drawn between development in animals and in humans
