My hobbies
I like climbing a lot... and skiing and doing
anything related with the mountain. But what I mostly do is just
walking around. And, of course, having a hot meal in the evening
together with all the friends you were walking with during the day...
Food will never taste better than after a hard journey!
As mountain is one of my passions in summer 1997 I accepted to join
to a youth expedition to the Bolivian Andes. There, we reached a
couple of 5000 meter mountains and one 6000 meter volcano. Quite
interesting indeed!
Appart from walking among mountains, I like any kind of sports that
mean having fun together and running a little bit... that is basketball,
football, volleyball... and even table tennis can be really funny!
I also like music very much, and in my free time I
play the piano. And of course, when a rainy day arrives (which in
Switzerland is quite often) nothing better than going to the cinema
or reading a good book...
My life
I was born in Banyoles, a nice town next to a
little lake in Catalonia. I went to primary and secondary school there, and I learnt
the beauty of walking among the mountains and seeing the nature.
I like travelling a lot, so I did it whenever I could. I went to England
twice in summer to learn the language. My university studies were in
Barcelona, in the Superior Telecommunication Engineering School
(ETSETB
) from the Polytechnical University from Catalonia (
UPC).
In summer 1999 I was working in Bosch
Hildesheim (Germany) for three months. And after some more months in
Barcelona, I performed my Final Degree Thesis in Lausanne, at the
Signal Processing Laboratory (
LTS
) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL).
After the project and a stage in the same laboratory,
I decided to take a PhD there, which I finishsed in Summer 2005.
After finishing the PhD, I
did a brief period in the industrial world, working for Olivetti
Engineering, and then life brought me to a new continent... I
started a Post-Doc in Laboratory for Computational Vision, New York
University.
