1.  Define:  phoneme, morpheme, vowel, consonant, place of articulation.

2.  What is a spectrogram?  What are the two axes on a spectrogram?

3.  What does horizontal banding indicate about the underlying speech sound?  About the intentions of the speaker?

4.  What is a formant?  What does it indicate about the current speech sound? About the preceding sound?

5.  What are the spectral correlates of a fricative or sibilant?  Of a stop consonant?

7.  What is the motor theory of speech perception?  What experimental results support the motor theory?
