There are ten files in this directory, all of which are ASCII.
This file is the README file, whereas the rest are described below:

basis.functions - The mean and first seven basis vectors as computed from
the entire data set. Organized on a vector basis, 31 numbers per vector (in
the 400-700nm range, at 10nm intervals). The analysis used to obtain these
vectors is presented in a paper entitled "The measurement and analysis of
object reflectance spectra" which was submitted to the journal "COLOR
   research and application".

dupont.spectra.2 - The reflectance spectra of 120 DuPont paint chips.
The DuPont paint chips are the Solid Color Selections of the Du Pont Color
Sampler from Du Pont Transportation products, and can be ordered from
any Du Pont Refinish Sales Centers. Organized by chip order, 171 wavelengths
per chip. Thus the first 171 numbers are the spectra for the 390-730nm range
(in 2nm intervals) for chip #1, the next 171 numbers are the spectra for
   chip #2, and so on.

dupont.spectra.10 - The reflectance spectra of 120 DuPont paint chips.
Organized by chip order, 31 wavelengths per chip. Thus the first 31 numbers
are the spectra for the 400-700nm range (in 10nm intervals) for chip #1, the
next 31 numbers are the spectra for chip #2, and so on. The data originated
from the 2nm spectra, by averaging 5 2nm readings into one 10nm entry.

munsell.description - The specification of the 64 Munsell chips in Munsell book
notation. Chip descriptions preceded by "MCC" come from the Macbeth Color
   Checker chart.

munsell.spectra.2 - The reflectance spectra of 64 Munsell chips. Organized by
chip order, 171 wavelengths per chip. Thus the first 171 numbers are the
spectra for the 390-730nm range (in 2nm intervals) for chip #1, the next 171
numbers are the spectra for chip #2, and so on.

munsell.spectra.10 - The reflectance spectra of 64 Munsell chips. Organized by
chip order, 31 wavelengths per chip. Thus the first 31 numbers are the
spectra for the 400-700nm range (in 10nm intervals) for chip #1, the next 31
numbers are the spectra for chip #2, and so on. The data originated
from the 2nm spectra, by averaging 5 2nm readings into one 10nm entry.

objects.description - The actual description of the 170 materials measured in
the database. The order corresponds to the order of the measurements in
   the "objects.spectra" file.

objects.spectra.2 - The reflectance spectra of 170 natural and man-made
objects. Organized by material order, 171 wavelengths per material. Thus
the first 171 numbers are the spectra for the 390-730nm range (in 2nm
intervals) for material #1, the next 171 numbers are the spectra for
    material #2, and so on.

objects.spectra.10 - The reflectance spectra of 170 natural and man-made
objects. Organized by material order, 31 wavelengths per material. Thus
the first 31 numbers are the spectra for the 400-700nm range (in 10nm
intervals) for material #1, the next 31 numbers are the spectra for
material #2, and so on. The data originated from the 2nm spectra, by
averaging 5 2nm readings into one 10nm entry.
