Valerie Doyere got her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Paris VI in 1990. She got post-doctoral training in Professor B. Srebro (University of Bergen, Norway) before being appointed as a full-time researcher, with a tenure position at the CNRS in 1993. She got additional training as a visiting scholar in the lab of J.E. LeDoux (2000-2003). She is an expert in synaptic plasticity in the awake freely-moving rat, in relation with learning and memory. She has published several scientific articles in prestigious journals and she is one of the few capable of recording synaptic and cellular plasticity in various brain structures over several days, and during learning tasks in the awake behaving rat.
