The package includes behavioral data of five human subjects who detect a patch of random dots that differs from the background motion in the mean, variance, skewness, or kurtosis of the distribution of the direction of dot displacements. The package also includes the analysis code for replication of the figures and statistics in the paper. [github]

This sample dataset includes three recording sessions from three monkeys performing a direction discrimination task with a fixed stimulus duration. The sample dataset of monkey 1 consists of 219 simultaneously recorded units in a session with 1206 trials. The second monkey's sample dataset includes 169 simultaneously recorded units and 1778 trials. The third monkey's sample dataset includes 220 units and 1047 trials. The data were collected in the Newsome lab at Stanford. [download]

This package implements the random dots stimulus using Psychotoolbox and Matlab. Begin your exploration of the code with demo_dots.m. To replicate the exact stimulus used in our publications you need to adjust the stimulus parameters for your experimental setup. Monitor refresh rate, dots density, dot size, and speed are the most critical factors. See our papers for details. [download]
