LICENSING

All these matlabs are completely useless if you cannot access a license server
or a standalone license. The matlab we distribute come with network licenses.
But your network must be able to reach a license server to acquire a license.

If you think your network matlab license files may be out-dated, you may
download the current versions here.

Current network matlab licenses

If you think you need a standalone license for your laptop or home computer,
you may email systems@cns.nyu.edu to request one. We distribute the Designated Computer
standalone license. See the simple instructions below to install such licenses.

How to Install Your Standalone License

Your license file should be placed in the licenses subfolder within the
matlab app folder. No other files whatsoever should be in there. Done.
Below is a bit more details.

Go to the download URL given to you and click on the link for your computer.
Then click on the link for the license file - make sure you do a download.
Further, make sure your downloaded license file is named license.lic with no
extra extensions. This must be a plain-text file (not Word or other word processing file).

The license files we generate are for a Designated Computer. They should be
placed within the <matlab app>/licenses/. MOVE any and all existing files in
<matlab app>/licenses/ to a subfolder named SAVE (for save keeping) and place
this new license.lic in that folder. For Windows, replace <matlab app> by
<matlab program files>. Done.

You may actually installed matlab licenses in other locations as given below.
If a given folder do not exist, you may simply create it. The default license
location is within the matlab app folder.

Here are some typical reasons why your license may not work.
If none of the tips help, please email systems@cns.nyu.edu.

Matlab License Locations

Possible matlab license locations based on its type and platform.

As matlab may continue to use the old license file, you may need to look in the
other possible locations to remove them.
