Welcome to Slice(tm)! ===================== Welcome to Slice version 1.2 and Slice Analysis version 2.0.2. These softwares are provided to you free by a generous grant from NIH (DC00540), and will continue to be developed as long as enough people are using it, so please register online or contact anjaleef@cns.nyu.edu to give your support! What's Slice? Slice 1.2 is a data acquisition software written and used in conjunction with Wavemetrics Igor Pro for the Macintosh OS 10.2.x and the Instrutech ITC18 acquisition board. Slice 1.2 is mainly used for electrophysiology recordings, particularly acute slices. Slice Analysis 2.0.2 takes the saved Slice formatted data set and analyzes them for Amplitude, Rise and Fall peaks, Area, Spike Counting, Spontaneous event counting and more. Requirements Both Slice and Slice Analysis requires Mac OS X version OS 10.2 (jaguar) or later. ITC18 XOPs are included in the download (please read the "READ ME FIRST" document if you haven't done so yet) and are necessary to use the Slice acquisition software. ITC16 boards maybe used if you have the XOPs installed and working already, but you will need to write to us for the ITC16 version of Slice. Slice Analysis does not require XOPs, but it will require data in the Slice format. Since OS X 10.2.x has built in memory allocation, there is no "set" space requirement. Installing Slice 1.2 and Slice Analysis 2.0.2 After downloading the .dmg file you can easy drag the Slice, Slice Analysis software and the manuals onto any folder or desktop. For the ITC18_XOP.sit, you will need to have an administrative password to install. Please read the included "READ ME FIRST" documentation for details. Note about Support Information about the programs are provided in the manuals that are downloadable through http://www.cns.nyu.edu/~sanes/slice_software. Technical questions are encouraged to be sent to anjaleef@cns.nyu.edu and will be answered promptly. General questions maybe addressed to sanes@cns.nyu.edu.
