Separating out local phase, orientation, and contrast from linear
filter responses
I'll describe some ongoing work I'm doing with Eero and Shani. The
basic idea is to derive local measures of phase, orientation, and
contrast from the responses of a few oriented linear filters. This
allows us to investigate image statistics using variables that possibly
behave in a more predictable way than the original filter responses.
After describing the technique we're using I'll present some very
preliminary measurements using this framework.
