I will talk about how for a population of tuned i.i.d. poisson neurons, a speeded 2AFC discrimination can be viewed as a general brownian motion of the stochastic log likelihood ratio (log LR) towards one of two barriers signifying the two alternatives.
I will also attempt to show that for a speeded estimation task, the accrual of the stochastic Fisher Information (before taking the expected value) in time has a similar form to that of the stochastic log LR and as such can be viewed as a similar brownian motion, however in this case, towards a single barrier which signifies the confidence at the time of estimation.
