Figure 3b. Stimuli and results of Experiment 3b. Subjects can perform task even when false probes are time-reversed versions of the target sound, or when the target sound is presented irregularly.

Experiment 3b stimulus examples

There are two examples of each condition. In all cases except Condition 2, the probe is the target sound. 

Condition 1:   

In the following examples of Condition 2, the probe is the time-reversed target. You should be able to tell that it sounds different from the target sound that you hear repeating in the mixtures.

**Note that there are only six presentations of the target, instead of the ten used in the experiments. The effect is readily heard with fewer presentations, and this makes the sound files load faster.**
